about

Kringen|media explores how to create a visual voice for its clients that will resonate with their own communities and create meaningful connections.

As principal, I’ve worked in design and interactive media disciplines for over 3 decades. My interest in painting and fine art informs an approach to design that is illustrative and textural, with a modern sensibility.

As Art Director at SEGA’s Southern California division, I trained and led a growing team of artists in the development of rich gaming environments and pushed the boundaries of animation in what was then a limited digital medium.. Later, as Director, I had the opportunity to research and develop projects exploring the relationship between design and artificial intelligence and possible applications to the interactive experience.

With the advent of the internet, my design focus transitioned to developing website environments and brand identities. My interest lies in bringing an organic and emotional quality to what can be a logical and often detached digital medium. In collaboration with my clients, I work to develop for them a visual presence within a digital landscape that will represent who they are, what they are about and foster emotional connections to their unique audiences.

I love design, art, beauty. I have always been interested in the looks of things - definitely a ‘form over function’ girl - probably to a fault. The way something visual can communicate and connect without words, and usually beyond them, is mysterious and fascinating to me. Working with color, line, composition and texture until something looks right - until it “feels” right - is itself a conversation between artist and the work. It’s a back and forth interaction that holds the promise of seeing something in a way not seen before, of finding order, of uncovering new meaning and most importantly, of invoking emotion.

It is a process of discovering what makes us feel something simply by looking at something.

When that balance is found, there is a part of us that immediately recognizes and responds to it without stopping to think. This is innate, instinctive and universal. It draws us closer and it has the power to reclaim in us a sense of awe and holds the potential to connect us to something beyond ourselves and to something that dwells deep within, simultaneously.

What’s not to love?
