bio
I’ve worked in design and interactive media disciplines for over 3 decades. My life long interest in painting and fine art informs an approach to design that is illustrative and textural, with a modern sensibility.
My career began at a time when the digital medium was only beginning to become capable of displaying rich visual environments. A combination of timing and a personal interest in unusual mediums landed me in the computer gaming industry, challenged with bringing design and beauty to the interactive platform.
Art Directing at SEGA’s Southern California division, I trained and led a growing team of artists in the development of gaming environments for home systems. We worked to push the boundaries of digital art and animation within a medium in it’s infancy. As Group Director, I had the opportunity to research and develop projects exploring design, artificial intelligence and neural networks and their application to the interactive experience.
With the advent of the public internet, my design focus shifted to developing website environments, exploring how to push past the inherent graphic limitations and working to bring an organic and emotional quality to what was then, primarily, a detached digital landscape.
Whether through digital and web design, brand identity development or print design applications, I’ve worked in collaboration with my clients to develop a visual presence that would represent who they are, what they are about and foster emotional connections to their unique audiences.
