The shapes and visual patterns that occur within nature are the primary influences for my work. I’m especially interested in the underlying structures in nature and the intricate web of connections and interaction, seemingly fragile on an individual level and yet so strong as a whole.

Fragility and strength - this is glass.

Creating something that brings attention to, or is reminiscent of, an aspect of nature’s form and design, I work to create balance and beauty, as nature does so effortlessly. The process can be almost meditative. Visual patterns, textures, translucence, opacity, shape and empty space all provide a large vocabulary to explore. Working with glass and heat, within the limitations of a kiln, each piece is its own journey, evolution and challenge.
